Our client is well respected International Commodity Trading Company based in Central London.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:


Reporting

  • Assist Financial Controller with month end close process, closing trading system, posting accruals and journals.
  • Maintain Ledger reconciliations and support Financial Controller
  • Intercompany reconciliations
  • Assisting with and reviewing bank reconciliations and resolution of issues
  • Assist Financial Controller with production of cashflow projections, liaise with credit controller. Use knowledge of AP to anticipate other payments due.
  • Creditors control review and assist with AP ledger to ensure accurate and suppliers (outside of LCs) are paid according to accepted terms
  • IT program housekeeping: ensure EOD run at C.O.B. each day, review postings to see they are made to correct orders, investigate purchase/sales variances
  • Production of weekly reports pack
  • Produce weekly unsold report
  • Submit weekly borrowing report to Head Office
  • Produce borrowing base submissions fortnightly for agent
  • Deal with forex bookings re month end roll costs and gains/losses to orders, revaluations of accounts
  • Liaise with Trade Finance in terms of payment posting and bank reconciliations
  • Prepare working papers and statutory accounts for yearend audit; liaise with external audit team as necessary.
  • Ad hoc support for the Financial Controller

Compliance & Tax

  • Ensure compliance with the Group's expenses policy and risk policies
  • Produce VAT returns for review by Financial Controller
  • Responsible for monthly EC Sales List, intrastats, arrivals and dispatches submissions
  • Implementation and management of Internal Control procedures

KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS REQUIRED:


  • Commercial awareness
  • Knowledge of accounting systems Cognos/SUN/Vision and IT preferable.
  • Strong on Excel required
  • Strong on detail
  • Team player with the ability to communicate with staff above and below
  • Time management skills, ability to prioritise and work to tight deadlines
  • Commercial understanding and knowledge of trading/commodity terminology preferred
