Do have food preparation/ Kitchen experience?

Do you have experience in a customer service role?
We are looking for enthusiastic, hardworking and experienced individual to join our kitchen team as a Kitchen Assistant.


This job includes shifts assisting the chef in the kitchen to deliver an exciting and varied menu and may also include shifts in a customer facing role waiting tables, and serving food and evening drinks service.

Our newly refurbished Kitchen & Bar at The Octagon Theatre is open from 11am for breakfast, lunch and pre-theatre dining.

Hours of work:
approx hours per week This will include a considerable amount of evening and weekend work but may reduce slightly in a week where we don't have events or performances

Rate of pay:
£10.22 per hour

  • Previous kitchen experience essential
  • Bar and waiting on experience preferred, not essential

JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title:
Kitchen Assistant


Responsible to:
Food & Beverage Manager and Customer Experience Manager.


PURPOSE OF POSITION:


  • To assist in the preparation, cooking and presenting of a varied menu for both service and events in our brand new Kitchen and Bar and event spaces
  • As members of the Customer Experience Department, to warmly welcome, serve and assist all customers, audiences and buildingusers
  • To help deliver the Customer Experience department's Kitchen & Bar, and Room Hire Offer.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Food preparation, cooking and presentation.
  • To assist with the safe, hygienic and effective operation of the kitchen and of the delivery of all meals and food service to customers.
  • To assist the Food & Beverage manager with controlling stock effectively, undertaking stock takes as required.
  • Ensure that allergen information is detailed, clear and communicated to other staff and customers effectively.
  • Adhere to Health and safety practices as well as Food hygiene and safe methods of working ensuring that all relevant checks are recorded.
  • To provide and promote superb and proactive customer service to all customers, audiences and buildingusers.
  • Assist in setting up rooms/clearing rooms for events and hires as required
  • Be proactive in the sale of Kitchen & Bar products, food, drink and confectionary as required to help achieve sales targets
  • The cleaning of work spaces, counters and floors as necessary.
  • Dishwashing and polishing.
  • Deal with customers problems/queries/emergencies effectively, informing the Food & Beverage Manager and/or the Customer Experience Manager if required.
  • Be an active ambassador for the Octagon at all times, providing the highest level of customer care, and promoting the theatre's work and fundraising.
  • Work in the best interests of the Octagon and in accordance with company policies such as equal opportunities, health and safety, safeguarding and IT.
  • The main duties and responsibilities are indicative and not exhaustive. Other duties may be necessary to fulfil the purpose of the post. This job description may be periodically reviewed and revised in consultation with the post holder._
