The role


The Open University is recruiting an Associate Business Partner to be based in People Services, providing support and guidance to colleagues, managers and stakeholders on a range of HR-related queries and enquiries.


As an Associate Business Partner, you will work very closely with the People Business Partner, acting as a role model and escalation point for the more complex queries from front-line advisers, taking opportunities to share knowledge and build the skills and confidence of the Adviser population.

You will be accountable for providing accurate HR policy and process advise whilst instilling best practice and consistency by providing ER guidance across the business.


Skills and experience

This role will suit you if you:

  • Have a strong, up to date understanding of Employment Law.
  • Have experience of working on major organisational change programmes.
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to explain policies and processes clearly, succinctly and correctly.
  • Have good interpersonal skills, including active listening skills and the ability to respond to identified needs through the use of varied questioning techniques.
