Isle of Wight College - Payroll Officer


Are you an experienced Payroll Officer looking for a new challenge? The Isle of Wight College seeks a dedicated professional to join our team on a fixed-term contract basis.

This is an exciting opportunity for you to join the team and help us continue supporting our Island community.

This role will be initially fixed-term for 6-9 months, whilst we transition to our new HRIS/Payroll provisions.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Manage
    full payroll provision for the college staff.
  • Process
    timesheets and handle
    expenses through payroll systems.
  • Administer
    pension schemes and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Liaise with
    HMRC and manage taxrelated tasks.
  • Provide
    staff support and address payrollrelated queries.

Qualifications:


  • Level 2 qualifications in English and Maths is required.
  • Professional certification (e.g., CIPP, CPP) is desirable.

Experience:


  • Proven experience in payroll management.
  • Familiarity with pension administration and HMRC regulations.
  • Working knowledge of payroll/HMRC legislation
  • Demonstrable experience of using Payroll systems, to process and manage payroll provisions

Skills and Abilities:


  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in payroll software and MS Office Suite.
  • Excellent organisational and timemanagement abilities.
  • Good communication skills at all levels, both internally and externally to the College.
  • Ability to work to strict deadlines, whilst remaining calm
  • Ability to use initiative and judgement, understanding when to seek support.
  • Ability to produce reports relating to payroll data, for transfer to management accounts teams
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.
