We have an exciting opportunity to work with our long standing Oil & Gas Client at their site in Kingsbury as an Electrical Technician.

The role

  • To maintain the integrity of electrical systems ensuring compliance with company and statutory requirements and in response to breakdowns. Perform maintenance and operational tasks on storage Terminals and pipeline systems.
  • Responsible for the delivery of planned and corrective maintenance and inspection tasks at allocated sites in accordance with set targets including the upkeep of the computerised maintenance management systems and plant history files.
  • Fulfil the role of Authorised Electrical Person including authorisation for High Voltage working.
  • Obtain quotations and raise orders for goods and services required for maintenance and inspection responsibilities in accordance with the company purchasing system and budget constraints.
  • Identify and prepare work scopes and justifications for engineering project works to enhance, modify or replace existing plant and equipment ensuring integrity is maintained and equipment is supportable.
  • Attain and maintain competency as an authorised person to work on electrical power and control systems including High Voltage/Low Voltage with responsibility to produce and approve switching plans and isolation plans.
  • Complete and supervise maintenance, fault finding and repair on all EC&I systems within operational sites. Systems include High Voltage/Low Voltage switchgear, intrinsically safe circuits, Ex equipment, UPS systems, motor starters, motor drives, PLC's, flowcomputers, fiscal metering, level gauging, vapour detection, fire detection, fire suppression, security.
  • Complete fault finding on mechanical systems within competency limits including 24/7 breakdown response.
  • Work under own initiative prioritising workload, with due regard to team effort and plant criticality.
  • Undertake risk assessments and formulate safety method statements and permit to work conditions for colleague and contractor works safety supervision.
Knowledge and Experience

  • Proficient knowledge of electrical safety standards and regulations including awareness of requirements for hazardous area electrical equipment and High Voltage systems.
  • A recognised professional qualification in a relevant electrical discipline to NVQ level 3 or equivalent standard.
  • Experience including responsibility for supervising staff and contractors completing electrical maintenance and installation work in an industrial High Hazard environment.
  • Recent experience of completing 'handson' maintenance and fault finding on electrical plant and equipment.
  • Numerate, good command of English language both written and oral.
  • Full driving licence.


  • Desirable

  • HNC / HND level qualification in a relevant electrical discipline.
  • Knowledge of relevant safe working practices associated with COSHH, Confined Space Entry, Lifting Operations, Pressure Vessels and Pipework Systems, Hydraulic Systems and Workshop Tasks.
