- We are seeking a
General Operative to join our friendly team. Reporting into the General Manager, the incumbent will work in the Air Products UKI Bulk equipment build, refurbishment and storage facility in Cardiff. The site consists of a workshop, offices and an outside storage area.

- Friday 7.30am 4pm, overtime when required

As the General Operative you will be responsible for:
- Full engagement in Basic Safety Process (BSP) activities consisting of:
- Attendance at Level II Sequential Safety Meetings
- BSP Work Team daily and monthly tasks
- Housekeeping control of the yard area
- Assisting craneage operations on the site
- Reviewing RAMS and issuing Permits to Work for contractor activities
- Ownership of the storage yard area to include equipment organisation and housekeeping
- Use and maintenance of oxygen cleaning systems to prepare equipment for customer installations
- Pressure and leak testing of cryogenic vaporisers and other ancillary equipment
- Preparing equipment for refurbishment, including pressure washing and dismantling of items requiring removal
- Preparing and assisting the Workshop Technicians with items requiring fitting to cryogenic tanks
- Erection and dismantling of portable scaffolding to allow safe access to equipment being refurbished
- Safe completion of manual handling tasks and a personal awareness to select the appropriate lifting equipment
- Assist with facility planned maintenance tasks as required
- General duties as required on an adhoc basis
- Contribution to Continuous Improvement Events within the department
- Compliance with LearnEx training profile
As the General Operative, you already are or have:
- Counterbalance B1 forklift truck usage and inspection training
- Rigging / slinging / signalling and moving loads training
- Knowledge and usage of pressure washing equipment
- Strong communication skills
- Logical problem solver
- Ability to work safely and effectively within a team and as an individual
Desirable requirements or qualifications
- Full UK driving licence
- MEWP licence (IPAF)
- Mobile access tower licence (PASMA)
- Overhead crane operation training
- Familiarity with oxyacetylene cutting equipment and portable cutting / grinding tools
- Basic understanding of pressure vessels and associated components safety devices, regulators, valves, gauges etc.
- Basic engineering knowledge of machining, pipework fitting, pneumatics, fabrication, welding, soldering and brazing disciplines
- Experience working with equipment required to meet minimum oxygen cleanliness standards
