To deliver nursing assessment and care, developing and maintaining a quality service for our surgical emergency admissions.


The applicant will have energy, commitment and the desire to support and develop nurses in this particular area of healthcare.

The role involves visible leadership and clinical input ensuring that high quality standards are set out and to maintain a high standard of holistic, quality care within a multi-disciplinary setting.

The applicant will be expected to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills along with the ability to sensitively support the team.


To provide clinical and professional skills within the Surgical Assessment Unit (SAU) and work collaboratively within the multi professional team.

To deliver nursing assessment and care, developing and maintaining a quality service for our surgical emergency admissions.


You will care for a variety of surgical patients throughout your shift and will be undertaking nurse assessments, triage, early recognition and escalation of deteriorating patients.


The post holder, in the absence of the Ward Manager, has continuing responsibility for the management of the unit, including the assessment of care needs, the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care to a high standard.

The post holder is required to supervise and teach both qualified and unqualified staff.
