The starting salary for this role is £50,047 per annum based on a 36 hour working week.


The role will be based in Woodhatch Place, Reigate Surrey but will also have the opportunity to work from other locations including
working from home.


Surrey Fire and Rescue Service are looking for an experienced
Senior Pensions Advisor to join our team as we go through an exciting and critical time in pension reform.

About the role
You will work alongside the People and Organisational Development Team, Finance, Project team and wider Pensions Team.

Together you will act as the main liaison with a range of external advisors and specialists, including the Local Government Association.


About you


To be considered for this role it is essential to have Public Sector, Local Government or Emergency Services experience in a pension's role with significant knowledge and experience of providing advice and guidance on pensions and pension processes and of working with financial data.

We believe how you work is as important as what you do and therefore we are also looking for excellent verbal and written communication skills, problem solving abilities and a strength in building effective working relationships.


  • Previous experience in a pensions environment
  • Knowledge of the UK taxation system (income tax for example)
  • Ability to review complex documents, legislation, guidance and financial data, and present findings relevant to the target audience
  • Advanced stakeholder management and advisory skills
  • Awareness and ability to interpret key governmental changes
  • Strong communication skills with an open and honest approach with the ability to influence others and build strong working relationships with other teams
