Thank you for your interest in the post of Cultural Resources Advisor with Historic Environment Scotland, based at John Sinclair House.

This is a fixed term and pensionable appointment.


You will provide assistance to Senior Cultural Resources / Significance Advisors and Head of Cultural Resources in all aspects of their duties, particularly in archaeological research and assessments to inform conservation works and small-scale archaeological investigations, archival research and content delivery.


The Cultural Resources Team (CRT) provides specialist heritage advice and services associated with Scottish Ministers' estate of Properties in Care (PICs).

CRT is a multi-disciplinary team responsible for recording and developing knowledge and understanding of PICs. The team advises on cultural heritage significance, research, archaeology, history, statutory protection issues and conservation principles applied at PICs. The work of the team contributes to the work on PICs at policy, project and site specific levels.


The role will periodically involve travel to Properties in Care for site visits and meetings across the whole of Scotland and may require over-night stays and occasional weekend work to support outreach activities; independent travel to sites may also be required on occasion.
