Description

This part time role has arisen within our Association & Events Management Company based on the outskirts of St Albans.

This is a permanent role for hours per week, ideally on a Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday.

After the training period, there will be the option to work on a hybrid basis, with a requirement to work from the office at least once a week.

There is a requirement for flexibility in working days and hours leading up to events. The role involves a small amount of travel in the UK, with the occasional overnight stay. In the future there may be the possibility to travel overseas to assist with managing events.

A strong finance knowledge is essential for this role.

Cognition AM Ltd specialises in Association and Events Management and has a number of client companies. We currently manage the accounting function for 5 clients.


The responsibilities of theAdministrator will include but not be limited to the following:

  • Process payments, invoices, income and receipts and endering data into SAGE accounting software or client databases.
  • Organising payment of vendor invoices and tracking bank account balances
  • Completing VAT returns
  • Verifying the accuracy of business accounts, reconsiling bank accounts and alerting the Business Manager of errors
  • Developing monthly financial statements including Management accounts, profit and loss and balance sheets
  • Credit control for outstanding invoices
  • Event administration including registration, event handouts & badges
  • Association administration including processing membership enquires
  • Taking minutes at meetings
  • Photocopying, filing and scanning documents
  • Prepare meeting room and catering for onsite meetings
  • Updating clients' website's and databases.
  • Ordering stationary and conference goods
  • Assisting business managers with administration tasks

Required skills:

5 GCSE grade 'C' or above in English Language and Mathematics:


  • Minimum 1 year finance experience:
  • Experience in Sage Line 50 an advantage but not essential
  • Flexiblity to adjust working days and hours leading up to and at events
  • Intermediate level user of MS Office (Word and Excel including mail merge)
  • Basic level user of MS Office (Publisher and Power Point)
  • Highly organised and attention to detail
  • Independent person who enjoys working in a busy environment
  • Ideally be a car owner with a full driving licence
