The job itself:

A vacancy has arisen within the Credit Control team based in Legal & Democratic Services.

The Credit Control team is primarily responsible for the recovery of sundry debts due to the Council and for providing advice to client departments in order to improve processes to maximise income collection.

The postholder will be responsible for managing a caseload of debt recovery work, including the issue of Court proceedings where appropriate, using a variety of IT packages.

Relevant experience of debt recovery and/or Civil Court process is therefore essential.

As the post involves dealing with members of the public and external organisations, good interpersonal and communication skills.

The team works on behalf of a wide variety of client departments and knowledge of Local Government procedure and practice is desirable.
