We are extremely pleased to offer an exciting opportunity to work with our friendly pharmacy team in a newly developed role as a Lead Assistant Technical Officer.

Due to a review of the skill mix, 3 new roles have been created within our patient services team.

You will work in the dispensary supporting Senior Technicians and Pharmacists by leading on dispensary operations and performance, controlled drug systems & processes and education and training of junior staff.

The new role will also develop and enhance your leadership skills by line managing staff and after completion of a training programme you will be able to accuracy check dispensed medicines.

  • Planning, supervising and prioritising daily workload, producing and coordinating rotas
  • Working to ensure the accurate and timely dispensing of medication in order to enable the timely provision of the dispensary service.
  • Facilitate discharges in accordance with the agreed turnaround times, working on own initiative and closely with the dispensary leads and ward based teams
  • Providing a pharmacy service including dispensing routine and complex medicines to patients.
  • Completing the final accuracy check of dispensed items
  • Working closely with the Lead Technicians to ensure staff training needs are met and appropriate competencies completed providing additional training as required.
  • Actively participating and contributing to the training and supervision of the work being carried out by staff working in the dispensary and dispensing hubs.
  • Line manage allocated support staff e.g. SATOs, MMAs, ATOs
  • Mentoring and acting as a role model for others in order to ensure systems and procedures are understood and competency standards achieved by demonstrating trust values and behaviours.
