Description

2 x Full Time (37 hours), Permanent

This is an excellent opportunity for a creative and effective communicator to join Bristol City Council's dynamic, innovative and award-winning Policy, Strategy and Communications team.

As a Communications and Engagement Support Officer you will have the opportunity to experience several external communications and consultation disciplines across the service.

You will help the Public Relations, Marketing and Consultation and Engagement teams deliver proactive campaigns, engage citizens and businesses, respond to media requests, and evaluate our work.

The campaigns we create and deliver focus on a broad range of issues - from recruitment of much-needed foster carers in Bristol, awareness raising of the Clean Air Zone, driving behaviour change to create healthy habits, to communicating transformational investment projects in the city.

We work with journalists and media outlets on the local, national, and international stages to tell engaging, accurate and informative stories about the council and the city.

You will have excellent verbal communication and writing skills and the ability to produce content for online and offline audiences, demonstrating a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

You'll also be well-organised and flexible, multiple projects with competing demands.

We also need to know what works well and supporting the regular monitoring and evaluation of our campaigns, media coverage and engagement activities will be an important part of this role.

With excellent interpersonal skills, you will be able to communicate professionally, and build and maintain strong relationships, with senior internal and external stakeholders to meet objectives.

Able to demonstrate suitable knowledge, understanding and skills or experience in communication methods and/or public engagement.

Working within a fast-paced, supportive, collaborative environment, this is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to take the next steps of a career in communications and engagement and join a team committed to achieving the best results possible for people and groups across Bristol.
