We are currently recruiting for an experienced Team Leader/Home lead, answering to the Service Manager working in our supported living services, in which we support young individuals to live independently within our shared accommodation home.

You will be an integral part of our team, leading an confident and experience support team, who puts the heart of young people in the centre of everything we do.
This is a full-time position, working 37.5 hours a week. You will take direct instruction from the Service Manager and support them in networking with employees and other stakeholders. This will include participating in all placement reviews and meetings relating to the young people's support network.

The post holder will be responsible for managing all aspects of running the Home, for medium to long term planned placements (N.B. emergency short-term placements are also occasionally accommodated) to ensure young people are supported and prepared to move on to independent living.


To ensure that high levels of emotional and physical care, appropriate activities, comfortable accommodation, and the service of keyworkers are planned, provided and applied in accordance with home's Procedures and Strategies.


You will have responsibility to request weekly allowances for the young people, keeping the finance and petty cash document up to date.


Knowledge and background experience of working with young people within the "looked after" system, Youth Services or semi-independent living is vital for the position.

You should be able to relate to young people from a wide range of backgrounds and have experience of dealing with complex safeguarding issues.

Experience and an understanding of challenges that young people may face, such as mental health issues, learning disabilities, substance misuse, gang related crime, CSE, etc is an essential part of this role.


About you:


For this role, we are looking for someone who has experience of working within children's homes, Youth Services or semi-independent living services.


You will be passionate about making a difference to young people's lives and hold a minimum NVQ 3 in Health and Social Care or similar qualification and have the willingness to progress further.


You must have a full UK driving licence and use of your own vehicle, as you will be required to drive within the services.


These are 24 hour, 365 days a year services, therefore, you must be able to be flexible to work and understand the needs of the business and participate in an on-call rota system.


You will be supporting the business with important authorities and commissioners so excellent standards of the English language are vital.

Once this is complete your job description/duties will include
:


  • To establish and manage the team communications systems ensuring that the Company procedures, policies, strategies and objectives are effectively communicated to all team members.
  • To ensure that professional practice in the team is carried out to the highest standards and developed in line with the Company stated objectives of continual improvement in quality of its service to internal and external professionals.
  • To ensure that the Health and Safety policy, organisation arrangements and procedures as they related to areas, activities and personnel under your control are understood, implemented and monitored.
  • To ensure that policies and procedures are in place and are kept under regular review including the home safeguarding policy.
  • To manage a designated budget / petty cash (as required) ensuring that the company achieves value for money in all circumstances through the monitoring and control of expenditure and the early identification of any financial irregularity.
  • Ensure that a robust staff rota is in place that offers adequate support to the children and young people, and ensure that the rota is retained for future reference.
  • All members of staff will receive regular supervision and appraisal and it is the responsibility of each member of staff to follow the company's procedure in respect of supervision and appraisal.
  • To be responsible for the management, coordination and development of a range of quality services for young people referred and/or accommodated within the home.
