Senior Healthcare Support Worker (Inpatients 1)

Balfour Hospital

Band 3 £26,972 - £28,990 including Distant Islands Allowance pro rata per annum (2023/2024 AfC pay rates as of 1st April 2023)

Full Time and Part Time hours available

An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Healthcare Support Worker within Inpatient 1 department.


This post offers a unique and exciting opportunity to gain knowledge and develop skills with a broad range of patients and gain new skills in assisting in the rehabilitation of patients.


You will be required to have excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team is essential.

Venepuncture would be advantageous but not essential as training will be supported.

Orkney lies off the northern coast of Scotland, between John O'Groats and the Shetland Isles. The total population is approximately 22,000 with most people living on the mainland.

Kirkwall, the capital, with a population of 7,500, it is the administrative centre of Orkney with a good mix of shops, supermarkets, and businesses.


Orkney is a wonderful place to live and work and has been voted the happiest place to live in the UK, offering excellent schools, good leisure facilities, low crime and pollution, unique wildlife and amazing scenery.

The excellent ferry and air connections make travel to the Scottish mainland, Shetland, and even Norway quite easy.

There is a rich archaeological history to be explored, as well as many outdoor pursuits, including diving in Scapa Flow, kayaking, walking, cycling, bird watching, and many more.

Orcadian culture is rich, with music and arts and crafts well represented, and the St Magnus Music Festival in June is internationally renowned.

The post holder will be required to work towards the Health Care Support Worker Code of Conduct.
