Project Support Officer (PSO) - Finance Change Portfolio

1 year Fixed Term Contract - Hybrid Working**
London

From January 2026 Hiscox's Board of Directors will be required to produce an explicit statement regarding the effectiveness of internal controls over balance sheet lines throughout 2025 and the basis for that assessment.

The Corporate Governance and Controls project will determine the processes and underlying data structures which are needed to support the Directors Declaration.


The Role


As an experienced PSO, you'll provide dedicated support to one of the Project Managers and projects within the portfolio, in this case The Corporate Governance and Controls project.

You will need to have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to prioritise and be able to work in a fast paced environment.

You will need to have a pragmatic approach to problem solving and be able to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.


What you'll be doing:

Reporting to the Project Manager you will be providing dedicated PSO support to the relevant Project and covering tasks which will include as follows;

  • Responsible for end to end governance including SteerCo and Working Group meetings, preparing and coordinating the packs, minute taking ensuring all decisions and actions are recorded accurately, producing and maintaining governance calendar and status reporting etc
  • Responsible for the financial management processes including creating and maintain the project cost model, recommending and processing accruals and invoice processing
  • Supporting schedule management including creating and maintaining the plan, milestone tracking, dependency management, performance MI and stage gates
  • Supporting resource management including onboarding / offboarding, organisation charts and holiday tracker
  • Responsible for ensuring self and the Project Managers adhere to agreed standards e.g. RAID management
  • Adding value and highlighting 'hot' topics / issues in a timely way together with feasible solutions.
  • Supporting the Project Managers to ensure the established deadlines for production of status reports, MI, RAID updates, and so on are met.

person specification:

  • Ideally 5+ years' proven experience working in a Project Management environment with a strong customer focus. Those will less years but with the right level of knowledge will naturally be considered.
  • Experience in all aspects of PSO (Project Support Office)
  • Experience of working in Financial Services and/or Insurance industry is preferred
  • Passionate about change and the customer experience
  • Attention to detail
  • Adaptable, personable, flexible team player with the ability to take ownership of tasks
  • Microsoft Office skills / Microsoft Visio / SharePoint / Teams
  • Educated to A Level or equivalent standard with 5 GCSE passes (C or above or equivalent) including Maths and English
