Are you a Business Development Manager with an excellent operational and commercial background?


This Department Manager will be responsible for developing the automotive business in European markets where the business operates through independent distributors.

This will involve the development of existing business partners, profitability and customerservice, as well as the identification of new market opportunities and potential business partners.

There are currently 18 Distributors in Europe. The market size, language, currency, regulation, tax and climate in each market are all different. Therefore requiring a bespoke sales approach for each distributor.


The Department Manager is required to have a deep understanding of the business in Europe and the ability to understand the various cultures and markets necessities.

This role requires very good business relationship management and capability to inspire and convince business partners in eventual difficult business conditions.

This role will require frequent European travel and overnight stays.


Main Accountabilities:

  • Full business planning responsibility, aligned with the annual Business Plan
  • Sales performance against target
  • Budget Planning, contributing positively for the Division's profitability target achievement
  • Development of strong working relationship with distributors
  • Pricing strategy
  • Supply plan management
  • Future products strategy

Main Responsibilities:

  • Supply responsibility for management of each Distributor's supply plan. Negotiation of supply allocation by model and management of distributor stock to secure wholesales and registration plans.
  • Sales achieve sales target by market based on budget conditions. Develop ad hoc sales actions by market based on supply and market situation and report results to the Head of Sales.
  • Pricing prepare product pricing and grade strategies to maximise models lifecycle sales process and profitability with new model introduction.
  • Budgeting develop a budget for each market based on pricing, volume and mix plan. Propose volume/mix scenario to achieve profitability targets by country. Follow up results vs plan and propose eventual countermeasures if required.
  • Network Development ensure all markets have a network plan including dealer agreements that are compliant with minimum franchise standards (MFS). Check existing situation and develop MFS implementation plan or rectification action were required. Reportany noncompliant situation and coordinate with HME Legal and Management for countermeasures.
  • Legal maintenance of Distributor Agreements. Report any noncompliance situation and coordinate with HME Legal and Management.
  • Financial monitor distributor financial status on monthly basis and manage financial risk and credit line with Business Administration. Communicate with Distributor on action plan and report results for countries where risks have been identified.
  • Marketing and PR ensuring markets are aligned with brand strategy. Share marketing material and assure implementation on local markets.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience


Required:

  • A logical thinker, well organised with a high level of accuracy and numeracy.
  • Specific knowledge of Motorcycles and of the global retail situation
  • Selfmotivated to seek continuous improvement in processes.
  • Proven skills in managing and leading people at all levels both inside and outside the business.
  • Demonstrable skills in financial planning and indepth knowledge in relation to motorcycle dealer/distributor profitability.
  • Open and honest approach with a high level of personal integrity to build credibility with distributors.
  • Fluent in English language, one other relevant language skill is essential.
  • The confidence and ability to work autonomously whilst also being a strong team player.

Desirable:

  • Microsoft Office Suite and MARS proficiency are highly valued.
  • A third language would be an advantage.
