This role is to support the Commercial Finance Manager. It both supports and challenges the business through the creation of value-adding insight and analysis.

Reporting to the Commercial Finance Manager - Trading, this role offers opportunities for commercial experience, influencing decision-making, cross-functional working, and exposure to senior management.

Your main responsibilities

Weekly category sales and margin performance for the two business units within the Retail division
Interrogating various data sources to identify trends and drivers in addition to creating scenario models to support management decision making
Analysing performance versus plan and providing MI to support the analysis
Reconciling expected performance versus actual performance in the general ledgers
Assisting the Trading team with making sure that billing timelines are adhered to
Supplier Aged Debt analysis to highlight, with the Trading team, delays in the collection of Supplier and Retrospective Income
Meeting prep for the various weekly trading reviews
Assist in the development of the various reporting suites, building excel models, KPI packs and dashboards, using a variety of data sources including data warehouses, financial ledgers, and planning systems
Contribute to elements of both Trading and Retail forecasts, challenging teams were necessary to derive robust and accurate planning.
Investigating price errors within Retail and Wholesale data.
Reconciling commercial reporting data with monthly management accounts

About you

Graduate calibre, partqualified accountant or analytical and modeling experience
Strong commercial background, gained either via an industry route (ideally Retail or FMCG sectors)
Proven ability to build productive business relationships with a wide network of finance and nonfinance colleagues
Proficient in coordinating work between multiple stakeholders and delivering information to exacting deadlines with attention to detail
Robust, enthusiastic and proactive in setting own agenda and driving results in a fastpaced retailer
Intellectual curiosity to understand the financial and nonfinancial drivers of the business and their implications for decisionmakers
Excellent verbal and written communication style and a proven ability to influence a variety of senior stakeholders
Strong MS Excel skills, honed in an environment of operating and interrogating financial forecasting models
Comfortable handling large volumes of data with good attention to detail
