Description

The Global Operations Specialist will become a key member of the Metallix Refining Europe team, with the primary purpose of assisting the Global Operations Manager, and being an integral player for overseas on-site projects, performing tasks specific to the recovery of precious metals from various industry sectors.


Duties in addition to the physical site work will include assessment, evaluation and costing of new projects, along with producing end-of-work reports and cost reconciliation.


The role will also involve technical and sales support to our Global Buying team and additionally providing back up to our operators in various departments within our precious metal refinery in North Carolina, USA.


The Global Operations Specialist is a dual purpose position offering the opportunity of overseas travel and hands on manual site work plus office based administrative duties and sales support in a unique, engaging industry.

All training and necessary support required to become a successful member of the team will be given for all aspects of the role, including further advancement.


Travel overseas (worldwide) will be a crucial part of the role and will vary dependent upon the number of projects secured per year and the support demands from the refinery.

Customer visits and site projects could result in 3 to 4 months travelling throughout the calendar year.


This position would ideally suit an inquisitive, highly organised, self-motivated, focused individual with a hands on approach to physical project demands, a problem solving approach to issues arising and a desire to learn and progress ensuring a long term career.


Requirements:


All applicants will require:

  • An ambition to work in dual environments, both travelling and working onsite overseas and being office based working here in the UK.
  • A good standard of personal presentation.

  • Punctuality, reliability and trustworthy.
  • A flexible approach towards work.

  • Ability to work to deadlines and experienced at managing your own work.

  • A knowledge of general site health and safety awareness.
  • Prepared to travel, upwards of 30% of the year.
  • A good level of fitness, being able to stand for 810 hours per day, move equipment and material which could weigh in excess of 50Kg and lift/carry equipment and material in excess of 20Kg.
  • Be willing to undertake necessary practical training to meet the job requirements.
  • Have an avid interest in working in the precious metal processing industry.

Academic/Educational Requirement

> Educated to minimum GSCE Level with good mathematic ability


Core Responsibilities

  • Assisting the Global Operations team with the execution and successful operation of onsite projects
  • Research into new equipment and techniques to improve the site operations
  • Assist the Global Operations Manager with the costing and evaluation of new onsite projects
  • Involvement with the sales team taking site meetings, inperson or through Teams calls
  • Work in our Leaching Department in Greenville, North Carolina, USA on occasions to support the team performing recovery projects
  • Work diligently, be able to problem solve and use own initiative to improve processes to help maximise efficiency, both onsite and within the Leaching Material Department

Desirable Additional Skills

  • Engineering (mechanical/chemical) background would be an advantage
  • Knowledge or experience within the environmental services industry
  • Additional language skills would be a plus
  • Possessing office/IT skills but with a handson approach to varied manual work aspects
