Position Summary
We are seeking to hire a Senior Professional Indemnity Underwriter to join our London team
The role works under technical direction, responsible for underwriting a broad range of moderate and complex risks in a book of business.
Key Responsibilities
- Comply with all applicable legal and regulatory requirements and ensure, at a level appropriate to the position, that appropriate measures are in place to ensure this compliance
- Determines appropriate pricing based on financial and competitive analysis in line with compliance requirements.
- Prepares quotations and answers questions from Brokers, policyholders or other external contacts and escalates issues to management along with proposed solutions as necessary. Negotiates with Brokers to reach positive and profitable outcomes.
- Notifies Brokers of adverse underwriting decisions, rate appeals, underwriting requirements, status and declinations.
- Analyses quality and quantity of risks underwritten and prepares reports for management review.
- Markets products and services through the brokerage community and makes field visits. Develops and maintains Broker relationships.
- May provide guidance and assistance to other underwriters and to other functional areas, particularly when related to crosssell opportunities.
- Keeps current on state/territory issues and regulations, industry activity and trends and freely shares information with others.
- Utilise advanced functionality in relevant CNA systems to perform daytoday activities.
- Works with more senior underwriters or management on risks exceeding authority level or requiring special handling.
- May perform additional duties as assigned.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
- Previous Professional Indemnity experience from either a an underwriting or broking background.
- Good knowledge of the PI market and products
- Strong knowledge of underwriting and insurance industry theories and practices.
- Demonstrated high level of technical expertise and product specific knowledge.
- Strong interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills. Ability to effectively interact with all levels of CNA's internal and external business partners.
- Ability to work independently.
- Strong ability to identify, analyse and solve problems as well as the ability to learn rapidly, adapt quickly to change, and to manage and prioritise multiple concurrent projects.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and to make critical business decisions effectively.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite as well as other businessrelated software.
- Demonstrated leadership skills.
