Overview:

MacTaggart Scott are looking to recruit a Head of Supply Chain to led our Purchasing Department.


Role:


The Head of Supply Chain role exists to provide strategic leadership and management of the MacTaggart Scott Supply Chain function and to ensure optimal supplier performance and price.


The role holder will be required to transform and evolve the existing function by the creation and development of a Procurement strategy, and the implementation of a supporting plan, which ensures that the function is operating in accordance with the objectives of the business.

The supporting plan continuously adds value, mitigates supply chain risks, delivers cost savings, and builds longer term strategic supplier business relationships which are mutually beneficial.


There will be a need to revitalize the existing function, coach and develop the associated staff members and ultimately get the best out of the team on an ongoing basis, delivering to and providing the required level of service required in accordance with business objectives.


The job holder must be a 'self starter' with the ability to lead the department and drive performance levels to the desired levels with the support of, but with mínimal supervision from, the Commercial Director.


Duties will include:


The Head of Supply Chain role is an all-encompassing position that will be responsible for driving forward the MacTaggart Scott strategic approach to procurement.

The role holder has overall responsibility and accountability for the Supply Chain function which will include leadership of staff, managing the task and budgetary management.

The postholder will be an integral part of the senior management team, reporting into the Commercial Director in support of the Board objectives.


Key responsibilities are:

  • Delivering functional performance to quality levels, cost targets agreed, scope and schedule adherence to business needs.
  • Responsible for developing the appropriate departmental structure, resource plans and culture to support the business objectives and meeting customer deliverables.
  • Creating and implementing best procurement practice throughout including vision, strategy, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve business performance. Specifically, to ensure that procurement strategies and processes are in place to meet business objectives and operational needs in terms of price, quality and delivery targets, which enables the company to function and compete effectively in the market place.
  • Develop relationships to negotiate and buy goods, materials and services to meet the Company's operational requirements in a timely, efficient and effective manner. The role includes supplier selection, involvement in tendering and cost estimating.
  • Responsible for managing relationships and negotiating with key suppliers at a senior and strategic level.
  • Developing robust standard terms and conditions to use with the supply base and liaising with the Commercial Department to determine appropriate flow downs from customer Prime Contracts.
  • Not exhaustive, but typically negotiating contract terms and schedules with key suppliers which meets business needs, ensuring that appropriate risk is shared in the Supply Chain, ensuring that the Company secures value for money from suppliers, that the quality standards from suppliers are met, agreeing delivery terms and ensuring that technical and scope requirements are met with the support of the wider internal stakeholders as appropriate.
  • Set department objectives and monitor ongoing progress and performance.
  • Provide clear leadership and guidance to the team, coordinate and coach the team to required perforrnance levels, ensuring that they are trained adequately, enabling them to achieve the operational and financial metrics within their areas of responsibility and can succeed in their roles.
  • Complete regular performance reviews including improvement plans, manage standard personnel matters (eg attendance, holidays, disciplinary issues).
  • Contribute to overall business strategy and annual budget process.
  • Present a suite of procurement metrics at the organizational monthly Sales & Operations Planning Meeting and support the Company Contract Review process.
  • Monitor supplier performance, ensuring adherence to agreed delivery metrics, and in cases of failures ensure reasons for nonperformance are clearly understood and communicated.
  • Ensure that all procurement data (including but not limited to price, lead times and validity) is up to date, maintained and reviewed on the ERP system to assist budget forecasts and with the bidding processes of the business.

Essential skills, experience and knowledge requirements:

  • Have full existing membership of Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS)
  • CIPS qualified mínimal Level
