About The Role:

TES are currently looking for Experienced OLEC 3 Linemen required who live in Peterborough or surrounding areas.

Shifts will be a variation of Days and Nights over the weekend and midweek.

Appropriate notice will be given for required cover.

The following competencies are also essential:
***- PTS AC & DC

  • COSS
  • Manual Handling certificate
  • SRS Volvo or MEWP Operator
  • First aid for electrical accidents
  • Linesman experience
  • Experience in Installation of Campaign changes
  • Knowledge of Network Rail rules and regulations inc Rule book, "Working on or about 25kv AC electrified lines" and HASAW Act.
  • Knowledge and experience in the construction of OHLE systems
  • Ability to undertake build of OHL equipment from design drawings
  • Knowledge of the OLEMI system
  • Geographical knowledge
  • Basic literacy and numeracy
  • Knowledge & competence in working at height and with safety harnesses
  • Hand tools, motorised tools and gauges

Responsibilities will include:

  • Follow all relevant drawings and specifications for the installation being carried out
  • Use the correct tools, plant and equipment and check they are in a safe and usable condition and fit for purpose
  • Install positions and secure the equipment and components in accordance with the drawings and specifications
  • Confirm that all necessary connections, fittings and components are secure and complete
  • Deal promptly and effectively with problems within your control and report those that cannot be resolved
  • Check the installation is complete and that all components are free from damage
  • Check that the completed installation conforms to the drawings and specification
  • Interpret the requirements for Safe System of Work when working in electrified areas
  • Wiring activities including: catenary wire, centenary wire, contact wire, auxillary wire, earth wire, return conductors/auto transformers, wire tensioning and terminations, splicing of conductors
  • Follow relevant reporting and recording procedures
  • Maintain effective supervision of all staff under your control
  • Carry out installation of small part steelwork on different types of steelwork including: cantilevers, headspans, portals, bridge/tunnel supports, slewable catenaries/rigid contact systems
  • Attend site meetings with the Supervisor / Senior Lineman and participate in staff briefings as required
  • Maintain stock and control all materials
  • Assist in the undertaking of inspections when required
  • To work safely at all times, complying with health and safety and other relevant regulations and guidelines
  • Carry out safety critical duties deemed to be within their capability and competence
  • Report fit for duty at all times, ensuring that the correct PPE is worn and relevant certification is carried at all times when on duty
  • To follow all reasonable instructions of supervisors and superiors and carry out any other duties deemed to be within your competence to assist the smooth running of the department
  • Attend all courses and training briefings as required
  • To act in a professional manner at all times
The position will require travelling within the area so a full UK driving licence is essential.
