Description

We are looking for a psychology graduate who is highly motivated, with excellent communication and empathy skills who can work independently and integrate into the multidisciplinary Chronic Pain Service, as well as being proactive in establishing links with other Secondary and Primary Care services and local third sector organisations.

We have strong links with the South Wales Clinical Psychology Programme and encourage participation in local special interest groups.

A high level of computer literacy and service evaluation skills will be required to produce clinical reports, assist with development of systems, and evaluate the projects.

The role involves working across various sites within the region therefore the ability to travel and adopting a flexible working week is essential.

Applicants must have a recognised undergraduate degree in Psychology and have the Graduate Basis for Registration with the British Psychological Society.

Experience of working with clinical populations and being able to speak Welsh would be beneficial.


Hywel Dda University Health Board is the planner and provider of NHS healthcare services for people in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and its bordering counties.

Our 11,000 members of staff provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services for around 384,000 people across a quarter of the landmass of Wales.

We do this in partnership with our three local authorities and public, private and third sector colleagues, including our volunteers, through:


Four main hospitals:
Bronglais General in Aberystwyth, Glangwili General in Carmarthen, Prince Philip in Llanelli and Withybush General in Haverfordwest;

Highly specialised and tertiary services commissioned by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee, a joint committee representing seven health boards across Wales.

The ability to communicate in Welsh is desirable for this post.
