JOB DESCRIPTION:
CARE ASSISTANT.


RESPONSIBLE TO :

MANAGER

PHILOSOPHY OF CARE
To assist in caring for Individuals.

Wimsly Care Home expects that all its members should have knowledge, attitude and skills necessary to maintain a safe and competent standard of caring practice.


To work in a collaborative and co-operative manner with all health care personnel involved in the provision of care and to recognize and respect their contributions within the care team.

Members must not attempt anything they are not capable or qualified to do. Members are accountable for their own actions.


This involves the following responsibilities:

  • Provide a high quality of care.
  • Respect the individuality and confidentiality of each Individual.
  • To respect the Individual's independence and to treat them at all times with fairness and courtesy.
  • Ensure the health, safety and welfare of all Individuals and themselves.
  • To endeavour to communicate effectively should there be difficulties with language, sight and hearing.
  • Maintaining records of care in line with the Individuals care plan in the personal care file

Specific Duties

Care duties can include:

  • Assisting the Individual to get up and/or go to bed, at times specified in the care plan.
  • Moving and handling duties which must be undertaken with due regard to Health and Safety Legislation.
  • Washing, denture and mouth care, bathing and dealing with problems associated with incontinence, colostomy bags etc.

Assisting the Individual with:

  • Personal hygiene needs.
  • Dressing and undressing.
  • Toileting including catheter bags.
  • Assisting with eating and drinking.
  • Keeping Individuals company by day or night providing personal care as required.
  • Assisting the Individual to develop, maintain and improve skills in any of the areas covered in the care plan.
  • Undertake cleaning duties e.g. dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, washing dishes, polishing, cleaning floors, bathrooms, kitchens, toilets etc using appropriate domestic equipment and appliances if required.
  • Disposing of waste safely after incontinence. Waste that contains, any form of body waste must be disposed of in accordance with Environmental Health regulations and placed in the appropriate sealed yellow bags.

The Employee's duties may from time to time be reasonably modified as necessary to meet the needs of the Employer's business.

Job Types:
Full-time, Part-time, Permanent

Part-time hours: per week


Salary:
£10.90-£11.12 per hour

  • Llandudno, LL30 2UL: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)
