Acute Oncology Specialist Registrar - ST3+

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full-time NHS appointment at University College London Hospitals (UCLH) to work and to develop new pathways of care for patients living with cancer in the emergency, acute assessment, elective day care, and clinic settings.

The aim of this post is to help develop the transfer the majority of work from the emergency department and inpatient setting to the day care environment within the UCH Macmillan Cancer Centre.

In addition, the post holder will gain management experience through contributing to the ongoing improvement of the safe delivery of out-patient therapies.

The post holder would be expected to be engaged with review and audit of the evolving service.

The post holder will have the same education and training opportunities provided to trainees, with the same study leave benefits.

The post holder will participate in the on-call rota.

This post would be suitable for a senior trainee (ST3+ level) who intends to pursue an academic or NHS oncology career.

The post holder will be responsible to the Lead Clinicians for Chemotherapy and Acute Oncology at UCH. Eligibility for full GMC Registration is required and NHS experience is strongly recommended.

Possession of MRCP or equivalent is desirable. Specialist training in clinical or medical oncology with experience in delivery of chemotherapy is desirable.

The clinical sessions will be based in the cancer centre day unit, clinics and the inpatient wards/emergency department, but the post holder may need to see some patients at other locations within the Trust.
