Job overview

We are looking for a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead. This is an exciting opportunity to join Park House School and become an integral member of the safeguarding team.

  • Main responsibilities:
  • To follow up on all safeguarding concerns flagged by members of staff, through our online reporting system.
  • To lead in the corporate responsibility for, and commitment to, the safeguarding and promotion of the wellbeing and selfdiscipline of all students.
  • To ensure safeguarding tracking systems are utilised, constantly reviewed and improved.
  • To engage with local and national discourse on safeguarding and ensure the school policies are updated annually in line with guidance.
  • To engage with the school culture, regularly walking the school and developing an understanding of the impact of student safety on teaching and learning. Greet students each morning.
  • To work closely with the local authority to ensure that referrals are promptly and appropriately responded to, and to rerefer where necessary.
  • To hold legal responsibility for dealing with safeguarding issues, providing advice and responding to concerns.
  • You will need:
  • Commitment to improving the life chances of students.
  • Commitment to establishing high and rigorous standards of discipline.
  • Commitment to ensuring a culture of vigilance within the academy community.
  • An understanding of a 'no excuses' culture.
  • Experience of working with children.
  • Experience of working with families whom require additional support.
  • An understanding of local authority assessment procedures, thresholds for identification of abuse, and case conference practices.
  • Experience of working with data tracking and data management systems.
  • An in depth understanding of the local and national picture in safeguarding.
  • An understanding of the local community and its perceived challenges.
