About the Role:

Healthwatch Central Bedfordshire are seeking to recruit an experienced, outgoing, pro-active, engagement officer to develop, design and maintain high quality and effective community engagement activities and to co
- ordinate volunteers which includes recruitment, on-going support, training and involvement in community engagement activities. The role is offered on a part time basis for 27 hours per week, on a fixed term contract until March 2025.

The main duties of the role include:

Engagement:

  • Using a variety of methodologies and developing supporting literature, including survey design.
  • Developing comprehensive work programmes and reports for each engagement project or activity, to include data analysis and appropriate research.
  • Contributing to a quarterly Healthwatch Central Bedfordshire Newsletter and regular Ebulletin.
  • Recording and report Healthwatch Central Bedfordshire activities and achievements for local stakeholders.
  • Regularly updating the chief executive and other colleagues on engagement activities and prepare monthly reports to contribute to Healthwatch Central Bedfordshire's annual report.

Volunteers:

  • Working with colleagues to identify and encourage volunteers to be involved in engagement activities, projects, surveys and events, organised by Healthwatch Central Bedfordshire.
  • Working with the designated member of the Board to manage a robust training schedule for all volunteers.
  • Monitor and control Volunteer expenses for authorisation by the Chief Executive.
  • Supporting and assisting all Healthwatch Central Bedfordshire volunteers as required and work with the Volunteer Involvement Group.
  • Ensuring that all volunteers are fully briefed and trained for their role within Healthwatch Central Bedfordshire.
  • Working alongside the Chief Executive and colleagues to ensure that the impact of the work of volunteers in Healthwatch Central Bedfordshire is measured, promoted and published.
  • Undertaking other tasks and responsibilities appropriate to the role and/or that enable the organisation to deliver more flexible services.

General:

  • Contributing to the wider development of the organisation, contribute to staff meetings and work harmoniously with colleagues and external partners, supporting others in their work.
  • Understanding and promote the priorities, activities and best interests of the organisation.
  • Achieving agreed performance targets and participate in regular supervision and personal reviews.
  • Engaging in training, identify personal and professional development needs and continuously seek to refresh knowledge in relation to the job.
  • Travelling to all parts of Bedfordshire as appropriate to deliver the role, working flexibly and be available for occasional out of hours working as appropriate.

  • Experience of working with the public on a programme of engagement or consultation and event management; Demonstrable success in planning, organising and delivering a range of community engagement activities, campaigns and events.
  • Demonstrable experience of working and supporting a team of volunteers, including recruitment and training.
  • Experience of working or volunteering in a voluntary organisation or community group.
