Job Description:


The Role


This role also includes some support tasks within the team, such as laboratory cleaning and reagent preparation, and although rarely requested, this role may require the production of a suitable witness statement and attendance at Courts of Law.


Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Carry out examination / analysis of submitted exhibits to required timescales, following suitable training and demonstrable competencies.
  • Adhere to all aspects of our Customer Operational Protocols, Health and Safety requirements and the Eurofins Quality Management System.
  • Ensure all notes are contemporaneous recorded as per standard operating procedures.
  • Take responsibility for maintaining the integrity and continuity of exhibits.
  • Communicate with other scientists as appropriate throughout the lifetime of a case.
  • Assisting with laboratory housekeeping duties including preparation of reagents, maintenance of equipment and laboratory cleaning

Qualifications:


Required Knowledge, Experience and Technical Skills

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to adapt quickly in a fastpaced, challenging environment
  • Understanding and acceptance of the requirement for full adherence to the Forensic Regulators Code of Practice

Preferred Knowledge, Experience and Technical Skills

  • Previous experience of working in a laboratory based role, preferably UKAS accredited to ISO17025 standard
  • A demonstrable understanding of forensic techniques and analysis utilised in the analysis of drugs, such as chemical tests, FTIR and GCMS
