Administrative Assistant

The role

We are currently looking for an Administrative Assistant to join our team at Fulwood Hall Hospital in Preston. You will ensure that all admin processes are adhered to in a timely and professional manner.

You will keep patient's paperwork up to date, accurate and support the wider Ward team with effectively managing all admin for the department.


This role provides a high standard switchboard service and the post holder will be required to receive a range of calls from both external and internal callers and connect them as appropriate.

As the first line of contact for callers the post holder is responsible for providing an efficient and responsive service as they are the interface for the hospital.

The post holder will operate a telephone based switchboard together with Patient Administration System. The ability to learn and retain information regarding multiple clinical departments in order to deal with patient enquiries.

The post holder will be required to use the Patient Administration system to assist with enquiries with regard to outpatient appointments and will work collaboratively with all departments across the hospital.

The postholder must be able to communicate effectively and sensitively with a wide range of people including patients, relatives, clinicians and other Trust staff.

Provide both internal enquiries and Directory enquiries for all staff. To answer all calls in a professional and timely manner.

They should maintain a courteous approach with callers and assist them in reaching their required destination Previous experience in a call handling environment is essential.

What you'll bring with you- Outstanding professional customer service and inter-personal skills- Administration experience (essential)- Friendly, outgoing personality- Flexibility and adaptability to cover the needs of the department/hospital- Excellent communication skills- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and willingness to learn additional software- Excellent attention to detail- Good time management skills- Previous experience of having worked in a hospital setting (advantage)
