  • Range £47,000.00 to £55,000.00Job Purpose


Reporting to the Senior Category Manager Indirects you will be an integral member of the procurement team partnering with key stakeholders to implement contracts and strategies across a diverse range of product and service requirements.

Working closely with stakeholders in Supply Chain, IS and Corporate Services to provide market knowledge, supplier and contract management through use of our business E Sourcing systems in order to deliver business objectives and targeted results.

Core Accountabilities

  • Supporting the Senior Category Manager and Category Manager with the implementation of sourcing plans, ensuring that they are delivered in with agreed targets and objectives.
  • Plan, manage and deliver tactical negotiations with suppliers, incorporating appropriate contractual arrangements.
  • Supporting the Indirect team with transactional and tactical activities, and helping to identify ways to reduce this activity.
  • Monitor and report on the performance of suppliers, contracts and source plans, taking action to ensure delivery in line with expectations.
  • Maximise use of all eProcurement tools within the category to ensure document retention, knowledge management and to drive maximum value.
  • Develop understanding of Indirect category areas, utilising expertise to support as required.
  • Proactively capture knowledge and use internal and external data to develop category market expertise.
  • Develop an understanding of the Procurement Policies & Procedures and Procure to Pay process with a view to supporting the streamlining and reducing Transactional and Tactical activity.
  • Reports Indirect cost savings via the Procurement dashboard.
  • Work with the rest of the function to support the development and implementation of team and Departmental vision.
  • Proactively and positively participates in the team to develop solutions to problems and opportunities.
  • Develop effective working relationships with Group and Divisional Procurement teams
Skills, Knowledge & Competencies

  • Good knowledge of procurement processes needed to develop robust contracts utilising appropriate eProcurement tools with an understanding of price, cost and value.
  • Demonstratable key negotiation skills and understanding of essential contractual requirements.
  • Awareness of Risk Management methods, mitigations, tracking and reporting.
  • Uses sound judgement based on solid data analysis and problem solving to understand complex problems and identify improvements and solutions.
  • Utilises a broad range of communication and networking skills to build strong stakeholder relationships.
  • Has an agile attitude to changing conditions and circumstances whilst showing a drive to action and personal accountability.
  • Broad knowledge across a range of categories with flexibility to react to stakeholders requirements.
