Who you'll be working for:

For more than 150 years, DB Schenker has pushed the limits of the logistics and supply chain management industry. We provide thousands of products for customers who are focused on finding the best shipping solution.

What's in it for you:

We are looking for an ambitious individual to join us as a Data Apprentice to support our Pricing & Solutions Design team.

Based within the UK & Ireland Land transport business unit, working within a close-knit team you will have the opportunity to develop the role and make it your own as you grow within the business.

You will be responsible for collating and reporting information using Microsoft excel and migrating, extracting, and transferring data securely from a variety of different sources.

Whilst being supported by those around you, you should be able to take act on your own initiative.

You will be responsible for:

  • Understanding the businesses data architecture, sources of data and how to collect, format and migrate data for analysis from DB Schenker's business systems and external sources
  • Receiving and summarising the preparation of data from internal and external sources for review by the PSD team
  • Data management, including maintaining/processing data in an accurate and efficient manner
  • Legal and regulatory requirements including GDPR, data protection, data security, data sharing and Intellectual Property Rights.
  • Creating effective data visualisations to show the story behind the data
  • Identifying and addressing common data quality issues
  • Maintaining records of opportunities reviewed, processed and submitted to the clients
  • Supporting the wider PSD team where required with preparation material (and potentially participation) for customer meetings

You will need the following skills:

  • A self-starter with a positive approach and inquisitive nature
  • Good working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)
  • Organisation skills
  • Good Communication Skills
  • Work well under pressure to meet timescales
  • Problem Solver

Entry requirements:

  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalents) at grades 3+ (D or above)
You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.

Working week:

The core working hours are 37.5 per week, between the hours of 9am-5:30pm.

Future prospects:

There will be an opportunity to gain full-time employment on completion of the apprenticeship, either within the Pricing & Solutions Design team or within the wider business.

Important information:

QA's apprenticeships are funded by the Education & Skills Funding Agency (ESFA), an executive agency of the Department for Education.

To be eligible for a Government funded apprenticeship you must have lived in the UK or European Economic Area (EEA) for the last 3 consecutive years.
