Job description
This exciting role is based in the JCMB /Strand Campus, covering all Campus locations across London, with occasional travel to Slough, Leeds and Cornwall.
The role is for a Technical Spaces Project Transition (Lead) position, reporting directly to the Technical Spaces Manager, working as part of the
IT Technical Spaces team.
You will be required to assist and oversee the
IT Technical Spaces alignment / project workload, assisting with departmental task alignment, mentoring and team development.
You will be responsible for all project related activities - Service Improvements, conceptual space reviews 'Technical Space', managing third parties, incumbent cabling teams & assisting in the successful delivery of all Infrastructure related E&F Project work, where there is a requirement for
IT Technical Spaces resource.
This ensuring that safe working of teams within the Technical Space is managed from a H&S aspect and that house-keeping / maintenance within our environments are maintained, operational and fit-for purpose.
You will be responsible for the associated delivery criteria and the liaison with our incumbent cabling teams, King's E&F teams or 3rd party providers.
Whilst some
IT services are transitioning to Cornwall, we need to provide a robust, consistent and local service in London, so we're looking for dynamic, skilled and independent individuals to become part of this new, challenging and rewarding environment.
Key responsibilities
Successful delivery of
IT Technical Spaces services within a Service Management framework and in line with agreed standards and Service Levels.
IT Technical Spaces project workstreams within our (Data centres, Comms Rooms etc)
Supporting delivery of technological change across the
IT Technical Space infrastructure.
Representing
IT Technical Spaces at Change Advisory Board, Daily Service Reviews and Weekly Service Review meetings, when applicable
Raise and execute Change Requests in adherence with the Change Control process.
Create and maintain all
IT Technical Spaces documentation, processes, inventories and tools.
Fostering collaboration and transparent communication between other
IT teams to provide an excellent
IT service.
Identifying and undertaking Service Improvements and New Ideas in line with the
IT strategy and roadmap.
Identifying opportunities to reduce environmental impact and implementing improvements.
Work closely with 3rd Party Providers transitioning services and solutions into the BAU environment ensuring operational excellence.
Deputise for the
IT Technical Spaces Manager as required within aspects of project deliverables.
Key Objectives:
Deliver
IT Technical Space Services in line with agreed service levels.
Ensure all
IT Technical Space infrastructure is maintained to the correct technical and architectural best practice specifications.
Contribute to the delivery of updates or solutions to the
IT environment.
Possess a detailed understanding of all King's College London's
IT infrastructure and associated environments.
Operate in line with King's Operating Model and Values and promote these within the team.
Contribute to the
IT Technical Space service / product roadmap.
Deliver operational excellence across the
IT Technical Spaces Team.
Maintain operational standards of readiness within our Technical Space

Essential criteria
- Demonstratable experience of working within technical spaces data centre suites and communication room environments 'Technical Space'
- Demonstratable experience of working in an operational lead /collaborative role, assisting local teams, third party liaison and partners
- Experienced in the managing of delivering technical projects
- Ability to identify and manage priorities ' Workflows'
- Ability to articulate effectively to both technical & nontechnical audience
- Ability to mentor, champion and influence policies & procedures across the team
- Project Management accreditation
- Data Centre / Comms Room Management Accreditations
- Operational experience of DCIM / Inventory ma
