    Why this job matters
  • The User Experience team is new in the Openreach technology units and this role is critical in helping us establish user led rather than business led design practices across Openreach. This role will support the overall design and development of our UX Design practices and processes, with a lead focus on proving the value of UX through UX research, in partnership with our UX Designer, across a number of projects and programmes as well as partnering with key stakeholders to champion UX Design.
  • This role will take a lead on building out our research practices and processes, whilst carrying out research based activities within a multi method research arm. They will aim to translate user and business problems and design questions into research strategies, and ultimately key research findings that drive the understanding of users, in turn shaping product strategy and end user experience. They'll establish strong relationships with key stakeholders across the business.
    What you'll be doing
  • Contributing to the development and execution of the user research strategy across multiple verticals together with colleagues from product design and product management and knowledge sharing across the company
  • Design and run complex research and discovery approaches in partnership with our business teams, to help us understand user needs better and drive experience improvements across our teams and product sets
  • Helping to drive the adoption of multiple user research methods across all product teams, to allow scaling of research activities
  • Supporting the user research discipline in the education of stakeholders and developing a shared approach for qualitative and quantitative research encompassing various methodologies such as remote and onsite studies, user and stakeholder interviews, usability testing, online surveys and user journey mapping
  • Continuously developing and sharing with the team knowledge on emerging trends and changes in the user experience field
  • Support the implementation of continuous improvement opportunities to improve the user research processes
  • Actively build relationships with our stakeholder community, championing UX Design and helping them understand how UX Design can meet their needs
    Experience you'd be expected to have
  • Significant experience in research and/or UX design using experience led practices and thinking
  • Experience of working in a complex IT architecture environment
  • Excellent knowledge of user centred design methodologies
