Part Time, Fixed Term - Academic

  • Oxford Brookes University is an approved university to conduct the Nursing Midwifery Council (NMC) Test of Competence. There are 4 other approved universities; Ulster University and University of Northampton, Northumbria University and Leeds Teaching Hospital NHS Trust.
  • At Oxford Brookes University, we have a Test Centre at Marston Road site, Oxford and a second test centre at the Swindon campus. We currently run OSCES Monday-Sunday in Swindon, and Monday-Friday in Oxford.

  • The post is a fixed term, part time post (30 hours over 3 days) until 21 February 2025 in the first instance

Qualifications required for post:


Senior Lecturer:


  • Postgraduate certificate in higher education (or equivalent)
  • Current registration with the NMC as nurse and/or midwife
  • Clinical Assessor status or Academic Assessor status
    Lecturer:
  • Current registration with the NMC as nurse or midwife-
  • Teaching qualification or equivalent
  • Clinical Assessor status or Academic Assessor status
    Experience required for post:
  • Recent experience of working in a clinical environment as a Midwife and/or experience of teaching Midwifery related studies to include clinical skills to pre-registration or post

- registration Midwifery Students
  • Evidence of teaching, facilitating and assessment of nursing practice
    Overall purpose of post:
  • To undertake academic and academic related responsibilities in the delivery of the Nursing and Midwifery Competence Test-
  • To monitor the development, delivery and assessment of specifically designed simulated skills assessments
  • To monitor the required evidence based underpinning safe and effective assessment of nursing practice using Objective Structured Clinical Examinations
