Join Our Team as Head of Financial Control at Leightons


Are you an experienced Finance professional with a passion for accuracy, control, and process improvement? Look no further We're a proudly independent family-run Hearing and Eyecare business with 95 years' experience in the space and are on the hunt for a dynamic and driven individual to join our team as the Head of Financial Control.

If you're ready to take the reins in a key leadership role and make a real impact on our business, this could be the perfect next step in your financial career.


As the Head of Financial Control, you'll be at the forefront of maintaining accurate financial records and implementing robust controls and policies.

Your primary focus will be to oversee the financial operations of our Optical business within the Leightons group, ensuring compliance, efficiency, and sustainable growth.

With your expert guidance, we'll achieve high calibre financial reporting, strong year-end audits, and drive continuous improvements to maximise our effectiveness.


Key Responsibilities:

Control


Take ownership of the month-end accounting closure, ensuring that accounts and management reports are prepared accurately and in a timely manner.

You'll be the master of balance sheet controls, bank reconciliations, and the highest quality financial controls.

Finance

You'll have the lead on working capital management, banking relationships, and supplier payments.

Your keen eye for detail will ensure that payments are properly authorised and approved, liabilities are identified, and tax and landlord payments are made on time.

Accounting


Accuracy will be your middle name as you handle timely accounting for transactions, prepare comprehensive year-end audit packs, manage accruals and provisions, maintain the fixed asset register, and oversee sales invoicing activities and intercompany processes.

Payroll


Our team and franchisees will rely on you to efficiently manage payroll functions, record and report payroll taxes, calculate commission and bonus liabilities, and ensure compliance with payroll and pension reporting requirements.

VAT and Tax


You'll be our go-to person for overseeing VAT returns, managing relationships with HMRC, accounting for disallowable VAT, implementing changes related to VAT legislation, and collaborating with tax advisors.

Team


Most importantly, you will lead and develop our talented Optical Accounting team, setting objectives, monitoring their development progress, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement that empowers everyone to reach their full potential.
