GMP Recruitment are proud to be in partnership with a highly successful manufacturing company located in Malvern, Worcestershire.

We are currently supporting their recruitment for an experienced Engineering Buyer to join their team on a full time, permanent contract.


As an Engineering Buyer, you will purchase parts and services for company projects, ensuring that parts are available for the engineers onsite.

You will be the main point of contact for Project Managers and Engineers for progress of purchased parts and services, developing and maintaining strong working relationships with the company supply chain.


To be considered for this role you must demonstrate previous
purchasing/buying experience within an
engineering environment with strong ERP/MRP systems knowledge.


Buyer main duties:

  • Purchase items in line with project timelines
  • Be the main point of contact for purchased items for given projects
  • Attend Project Review Meetings and meetings
  • Progress chase Engineers with design items on Sales Order
  • Procure items in an efficient and logical timely manner
  • Use appropriate company approved suppliers and identify possible alternatives
  • Monitor performance of suppliers and provide input to the supplier review meetings
  • Ensure overdue items are tracked and new delivery dates updated on Company MRP system
  • Keep Operations team informed of late or overdue items
  • Identify potential savings through alternative products, suppliers or volume purchasing
  • Negotiate processes to ensure best value for the Company
  • Interpret engineering drawings to allow correct routing and selection of suppliers
  • Follow company procedures for updating Works Orders and Routingsand dispatching items on the company MRP System

Buyer desired skills and experience:

  • Experience of working within an engineering environment
  • Purchasing experience of bespoke mechanical and electrical items
  • Use and maintenance of ERP /MRP system
  • Good communication skills
  • Understanding the full end to end process of purchasing
  • Detailed, methodical and organised
  • Able to prioritise
  • Able to work as part of a team
  • CIPS Trained advantageous


For all the above requirements the successful Engineering Buyer will receive a competitive salary of up to £32,000, which is demonstrable with experience, plus excellent company benefits.

£30,000.00-£32,000.00 per year
