We are recruiting for a Service Team Leader who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.

You will provide effective leadership and performance management of administration staff within the Directorate, eg. medical secretaries and contact centre staff.

You will support the Service Managers in the management of all aspects of cancer services and performance management. They will be directly responsible for the management and co-ordination of secretarial and clerical staff within a defined area.

To work unsupervised and act independently to manage own workload, referring to the appropriate Service Manager when necessary. You will ensure the provision and delivery of high quality efficient and effective services within areas of responsibility.

To support the Service Manager in:
Ensuring the secretarial and admin team targets are achieved eg. Clinic letter turnaround, patient queries, support to the wider clinical team including nurses.

Cross covering areas when staff are absent, be it planned or unplanned

Undertaking delegated projects relevant to area of responsibility and any Trust initiated projects where deemed appropriate.

Monitoring of activity, workload and performance. Advising the appropriate Service Manager of any key concerns as they arise

Production of reports as required.

To ensure adherence to waiting list policies and procedures eg Cancer Waiting Times.

To provide non-clinical advice and information to patients and/or their relatives in accordance with confidentiality rules. To include times, dates or other particulars for appointments and/or admissions.


To undertake clinical enquiries in preparation for admission, and take on the responsibility to seek further clinical advice for more complex enquiries.
