Salary and grade:
Grade - starting at £24,760 + shift allowance


Duration of role:
Permanent


Hours per week: 37 per week, the successful applicant will work a four-week cycle of shifts, six days consecutively - eighteen working days in total over a four- week cycle. Shift times will vary according to service needs but will not run into rest days.

About the role and what we're looking for


to operate, monitor and prioritise the use of CCTV cameras within the South and Vale control room in a proactive/reactive manner, to maintain a safe environment for the public.

to ensure the service can offer full integrity, accuracy and confidentiality of all information in accordance with the codes of practice and standard operation procedures in place, whilst seeking to preserve the rights of the individual.

to observe the town centres on the scheme (Abingdon, Didcot, Henley, Thame, Wallingford and Wantage) by operating monitors and recording equipment in accordance with a 364 day shift pattern which includes weekends and bank holidays as required.

to communicate with the Police, council officers and other agencies by various communication systems to ensure the most appropriate and effective use of the CCTV system.

To be contactable throughout the shift.
to accurately record all events and actions monitored from within the control room, including the maintenance of daily logs.

to process digital viewing requests from the police and issue evidence packs to the police and other authorised agents for evidential purposes.

to store all relevant data securely in accordance with Data Protection regulations and maintain the security of the control room environment
to recognise, report and monitor the resolution of any faults relating to the CCTV equipment
to attend Crown and Magistrates Court as a witness if necessary and provide evidence
occasional office cleaning (because of secure environment), screen and console cleaning


About youYour essential skills, knowledge and experience**at least six months' experience in a service or customer care environment
excellent interpersonal and communication skills - the ability to work with a wide variety or people
ability to assess and react quickly to situations as they unfold
ability to maintain accurate reports and records
basic level MS word, excel


Your essential qualifications
a minimum of three GCSE's grade C or above including English or equivalent
Security Industry Authority (SIA) CCTV Operators License (this course will be arranged by the CCTV Supervisor for the post holder if not already qualified and the operator will be required to pass the appropriate CCTV Operators course within three months of being appointed)


If you have the following experience or qualifications - it's a bonus
Experience of working with security systems


Additional information
full driving license and access to a vehicle or the ability to travel to and from work during hours when public transport may not be accessible
