Permanent, 22.5 hours a week

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Nutrition and Dietetic Department at Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust to recruit to a Band 6 in Adult Diabetes (0.6WTE)


In this role you will be require experience in all aspects of adult diabetes care, including type 1 and type 2 diabetes, gestational diabetes and an awareness of other classifications of diabetes.

The main duties will include seeing patients in an outpatient setting in a variety of different clinics, including antenatal, insulin pump and general diabetes.

You will be responsible for your own caseload, seeing 1:1 patients and regularly reviewing data from flash glucose and continuous glucose monitoring devices.


You would use specialist knowledge and clinical expertise to assess, diagnose, agree, plan, implement and monitor a nutrition and dietetic care plan based on a range of treatment options for people with varying types of diabetes who have complex medical, nutritional and psychological needs.


You should have experience of working within various MDTs and communication skills, and be able to demonstrate skills in team working and service development.

Able to empower the patient to manage their diabetes and make necessary lifestyle adjustments.

You would update and communicate on the patient's progress and changes to the treatment plans to the referrer.

To act as a specialist practitioner in diabetes dietetics, providing a dietetic service to this cohort of patients


To ensure that the service is evidence based, in line with clinical governance requirements and government targets, and is of the highest professional standard.

To provide supervision and training of Nutrition and Dietetic staff within the Diabetes Team as required


To actively support the development and delivery of education and training to a range of health care professionals, students, patients and carers.
