Young Peoples Support Worker - Days
Back on Track Accommodation is a 24/7 wrap around service that provide supported accommodation to vulnerable young people aged 16-25 including care leavers, unaccompanied asylum-seekers, and those at risk of sexual exploitation.
Job Role - 42 hours over a 4-week Rota
- The role requires staff to work a 12.5hour day shift
- Staff are to provide support to young people in a residential setting.
- Staff will support the young people with developing their independent living skills and encourage them to engage with education, employment, and training.
- Staff are required to work flexibly, proactively, creatively and with a positive attitude to provide young people with a quality 24hour service.
What we are looking for:
You will be a positive role model to our young people and have a passion to support and guide them to gain the skills and the knowledge they require to achieve independent living skills in a safe environment.
You will be required to work flexibly, proactively, and creatively within a small team of fellow support workers and managers to provide the highest level of care and support to the young people within our care.
Personal Requirements:
- GCSE in English & Math's
- Proven track record of working positively & successfully with young people including those who have been in care (ideally at least two years' experience)
- Have the right to work in the U.K.
- Enhanced D.B.S.
- Valid driving licence and permanent use of an approved suitable vehicle insured for Business Use for the transportation of clients.
Key Skills:
- Computer literate in Microsoft Office.
- Excellent written, recording, and verbal communication skills.
- Positive attitude and initiative to provide practical and flexible problem solving.
- Excellent emotional resilience in working with challenging behaviours, ability to set firm and consistent boundaries and manage conflict constructively
- Excellent observational and listening skills
- Understanding of safeguarding and Child Protection
- You will be flexible, have excellent time management skills and the ability to work under pressure.
- You will have a proven track record of supporting young people through an assessment and action planning, leading to excellent outcomes.
- You will have excellent knowledge of safeguarding procedures and legislation in respect of children and young people
- You will have a proven track record of conflict resolution.
- You will have an excellent personal attendance record.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate records in line with policies and procedures.
- Ensure the implementation of all policies and procedures with reference to Safeguarding, Equality & Diversity and Confidentiality (DPA).
- Liaise with other professionals, internally and externally to ensure good continuity of quality of care.
- Provide effective handover, information sharing, updates with individual client's social workers / personal advisors.
- Attend professional meetings relating to Back on Track Accommodation clients as required.
- Maintain own Personal Development Plan (PDP) and be committed to continued professional development.
- Maintain cleanness and general upkeep of the premises
