Location:

Hybrid - your time will be split between our office/venue on Bristol Harbourside and your home, or wherever you like to work.

We're happy to support flexible working - both through hybrid working and your working pattern.

You just need to be able to attend key meetings, have some cross-over with the rest of the Audience team and deliver the responsibilities of the role.

About the role
Leading the marketing team, you'll plan, deliver and evaluate our reopening and recovery marketing strategies.

You'll re-establish our brand, build back audiences and restore income streams at a critical but exciting time for us, as we build up to reopening.


You'll be an experienced driver of change, happy working both creatively and analytically on a wide variety of projects to help us achieve our aims as a charity.


Expect to spend as much time working with other departments - problem solving and identifying opportunities - as with the marketing team, supporting and developing them to deliver their best work.

The marketing team is part of our Audience department, which also includes Inclusion and Digital. Together we create meaningful relationships and rich, welcoming experiences.


What will you do in this role?

Role specific responsibilities
Support the continuous professional development and wellbeing of the marketing team. You'll nurture a culture of reflective practice through supportive leadership, line management and proactive project/resource planning.


Drive a forward-facing marketing and communications approach that is informed by industry best practice, new developments & innovation, data and our audience development aims.

You'll oversee all marketing and membership budgets and establish strong working relationships with other departments.


Work closely with the marketing team to develop and implement marketing and communications strategies to support our reopening and recovery period.

Collaboratively you'll work to protect our reputation, increase brand awareness, re-engage audiences and generate income. Brief and manage relationships with agencies and freelancers where appropriate.


Lead the relaunch of our new website, working with our digital partners and in -house teams to deliver a bold, future-adaptive website that meets audience and business needs both now and in the future.

Oversee brand management and creative development.

You'll be a key brand guardian striving for consistency, inclusivity and the embodiment of our brand values across our visual identity, narrative, assets and tone of voice.


Support operational and digital teams with ticketing, CRM (customer relationship management), KPI and membership work packages, helping to problem solve and ensuring an audience-first, strategic approach.

Provide evidence-based insights and qualitative feedback to drive a data-led, audience focused approach to planning across the organisation. You'll manage our audience research agency, visitor survey/feedback and compile regular reports.

Create on-brand content for social media and reactively respond to comments and enquiries. These responsibilities are shared with the rest of the marketing team.

Co-ordinate our Data Protection Action Group and support our Data Protection Officer with identifying data protection risks and priorities.


General responsibilities

Collaborate with the Development team on any funding bids and reports relating to your area of work; where applicable as project lead.
