A long-established specialist London hospital is now looking for an
experienced
Healthcare Assistant (HCA) or Support Worker to join the team in providing the best all-round care possible to people who require complex support for brain-related conditions.


For over 150 years, the hospital has provided long-term healthcare services, rehabilitation support, and a base for advanced research into new therapies for people with profound brain injuries and complex conditions; it now stands as a leading centre of excellence in specialist care for neurological disabilities.

As a
Clinical
Healthcare Assistant with theneuro-behavioural unit, you will help provide dedicated 1-to-1 care to people who have impaired rational thinking and decision-making abilities, and so require aid in managing challenging behaviours


You will:
- help develop supportive and respectful relationships
- encourage engagement with Positive Behaviour Support techniques
- help to maximise independence and quality of life.


You will need previous experience in 1-to-1 care and with challenging behaviours to succeed in this role, ideally with training in restraint techniques. Previous experience with mental health, psychiatric, or brain disorders will also be beneficial.

This is
permanent Clinical Healthcare Assistant role, with
full-time or part-time hours available.


Person specification:

You
must be experienced in providing 1-to-1 care and in working with people who display challenging behaviours.

Previous experience with mental health / psychiatric / brain disorders is
preferable but not essential.

NVQ Level 2 / 3 in Health & Social Care (or related) is
preferable but not essential.
