Reed are working in collaboration with a NHS Trust based in Central London who are currently recruiting a temporary Senior Education Manager.

Reporting directly to the

Operational Manager:
Learning Academy, the Senior Education Manager.

The post holder will provide strategic operational leadership for the Business Support Team, ensuring the GLA meets its responsibilities in relation to performancetargets for education including pre-registration nurse education, undergraduate non-medical education, education of the non-registered workforce, and the on-going professional development of other non-medical clinical professional staff in response to nationaland local regulatory frameworks and Trust objectives.


Band 8a - PAYE £25.31 per hour

Working hours 37.5 per week

Working pattern Hybrid but may need to be onsite more in the first few weeks

Duration 3 months

  • Work in partnership with senior education leads across GLA workstreams including the Heads of Education, Lead Practice Educators
  • Liaise with external partners, and Higher Education Institutes (HEIs), to monitor, evaluate and develop Education across designated workstreams, ensuring this is done within the framework of the NHS Education Contract and relevant regulatory bodies
  • In partnership with the Associate Directors of Education and Heads of Education, provide strategic oversight of the Trust's preregistration, postregistration, and continued professional development (CPD) of nonmedical clinical professional groups.
  • Operational and line management responsibility for the GLA Education Managers
  • Oversight and leadership of the daytoday operational running of the GLA Business Support Team, in accordance with HR policies and procedures ensuring there is good practice in; recruitment, appraisal, performance management, sickness/absence, continuousprofessional development, and pastoral care
  • To ensure the most appropriate staff and skillmix profiles for the administrative team reflecting current and emergent needs of the learning academy
  • Ensuring the highest quality standards are maintained within finite resources, reviewing the skill mix on an ongoing basis
  • To lead on the effective financial management of the education commissioning process for the GLA, including Workforce Development Funding, Student Placement Tariff, and other areas of the NHS Education Contract
  • Responsible for the operational, financial, and business management of designated workstreams, including managing the internal and external income streams
  • Delegated budget holder for designated workstream budgets and GLA budgets on behalf of

Experience & Essential requirements

  • Experience of working within education or academia
  • Knowledge & experience of quality assurance and operational performance management, including budget management, monitoring activity, and reporting against key performance indicators
  • Knowledge of Health Education England (HEE), relevant NHS education policies and issues
  • Extensive experience of leading and managing teams
  • Experience of education commissioning and franchising education
  • Awareness of the workforce development agenda and current changes to healthcare education funding
  • Educated to degree level and/or equivalent level of experience within area
  • Educated to Post Graduate Diploma level and/or equivalent level of experience within area
  • Evidence of continuing professional and personal development
