Description
To promote the profile of clinical research and innovation in the Academic Directorates of Communicable Diseases & Specialised Medicine through:

  • academic support
- governance support
- quality assurance
- servicing the Directorate Research & Innovation Executive(s)
- fulfilling reporting requirements
- assisting with the sourcing of research & innovation funding and grants
- maintaining the directorate research & innovation website


The postholder will, in their directorate:

  • facilitate set-up of commercial and non-commercial studies, providing research governance and innovation support to investigators, troubleshooting as required with teams involved in study delivery;
- provide support for the Directorate Research & Innovation Executive(s) in fulfilling its strategic, facilitatory, financial, monitoring and reporting responsibilities;
- update the Directorate website with research and innovation related information;
- in conjunction with the Clinical Research & Innovation Office, provide Research Governance training: teach and / or refer for external training investigators, members of the research team,

The Academic Directorates of Communicable & Diseases Specialised Medicine have a large number of research studies across various specialties and will have research and innovation as core business promoting the profile, activity level and relevance of research and innovation in their directorates.

They will pursue research and innovation targets alongside clinical delivery.


This is achieved by:
- working proactively with the Clinical Research and Innovation Office, Department of Health, NIHR, Yorkshire & Humber Clinical Local Research Network (YHCRN), academic partners, NHS Trusts, Clinical Research Networks, and grant and commercial funders;
- building capability and capacity;
- ensuring a safe research and innovation environment by providing systems to fulfil regulatory requirements and sound financial

This vacancy is advertised on a fixed term contract basis for a period of a maximum of twelve months due to maternity leave of the substantive post holder.

The fixed term contract status of the post holder will be reviewed in accordance with the Trust's legal obligations regarding fixed term contracts and statutory maternity provisions.

Please also note any secondment must first be agreed with your current line manager.
