The Thermal Directorate is responsible for development of flexible power generation with carbon capture (pre or post combustion), hydrogen production and hydrogen storage assets and the delivery of long-term sustainable and strong earnings through efficient operation.
- Originate and lead appropriate growth opportunities through organic growth, partnerships, JVs and M&A; focusing on low carbon power generation such as Power with carbon capture and hydrogen fired turbines, hydrogen storage and hydrogen production, and other short term EBIT opportunities in flexible energy.
- Coordinate and manage acquisitions, disposals and new Joint Venture activity for SSE Thermal, utilizing crossfunctional teams including colleagues in Finance, Legal, Engineering, Business Development and Project Development
What do I need?
To be considered for this role, we would love you to:
- Be a commercially focused professional experienced in structuring and negotiation of transactions, preferably within the energy sector and with a strong understanding of commercial value drivers, regulatory and political change and the resulting impact on commercial opportunities for SSE Thermal.
- Be experienced in acquisitions, disposals and/or joint ventures and have experience in a business development / origination.
- Have excellent negotiation and influencing skills with the ability to create and articulate complex proposals at a senior level, be experienced in legal and financial analysis and leading of expert legal and financial resource.
- Enable a high performing team, engaging others to deliver and delegating effectively to meet the business goals.
- Demonstrate a keen interest in new technologies and the role they will play in NetZero.
