About the role


The role of Lecturer is part of the Training Deliver Team where, as part of the team you will develop and deliver Wireless Communications training to the very highest standard.

The team deliver technical training for telecommunications test and measure equipment as well as Higher Education (HE) Postgraduate courses.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone with a background in Telecommunications to further their training career or start one.


Responsibilities
Specific responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Work collaboratively with the lecturing team to assist the Wireless Communications Lead in managing training resources.
  • Course setup Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), Classroom and practical exercises.
  • Deliver technical training and assessments in accordance with the policy and procedures of CDS Defence & Security and awarding bodies at Cheltenham, Online or customer site.
  • Marking of written and practical assessments.
  • Exam moderation and implementation.
  • Manage delegates through their learning journey.
  • To provide accurate information and reports relating to the progression and performance of delegates during training.
  • Prepare and develop learning materials and assignments in adherence to our ISO documentation.
  • Complete induction for new learners and delegates as required.
  • Contribute to process of continual improvement.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

  • A significant background in wireless communications.
  • Experience with radio technologies.
  • Experience presenting.
  • A team player with respect for colleagues and customers, and with a drive to establish, maintain and develop working relationships based on confidence, trust and respect.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with others, including technical specialists and Subject Matter Experts, and to build positive relationships with individuals and between teams.
  • Strong problem solving, decision making and people influencing skills.
  • Holding, or capable of achieving, a minimum of SC security clearance.
  • A clear and confident communicator, verbally and in writing, and a practitioner in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • A valid, full UK driving licence.

Desirable / Preferred:


  • A Postgraduate qualification in Wireless Communications or similar field.
  • Experience delivering telecommunications training.
  • Experience with telecommunications test and measuring equipment.
  • Experience with VLEs specifically Blackboard.
  • A teaching or instructional qualification.
  • A postgraduate qualification related to Training and Education is desirable but not essential.

Aspiration


As a Wireless Communications Lecturer, you will be expected to continue to build your analytical and problem-solving skills, and your knowledge and expertise related to wireless communications across the private, public and military sectors.

You should demonstrate a desire to take on additional challenges and be prepared to be visionary and propose new thinking and ideas.


Location

  • Home working.
  • Working in the CDS DS office in Cheltenham when required.
  • Willing to travel within the UK and abroad.
  • Willing to work at clients locations when required.
