Leicester Adult Skills and Learning Service offer a large and diverse programme of further education qualification courses as well as extensive community-based provision.

We have a diverse, enthusiastic learning community, taught, and supported by well qualified, dedicated staff.

Our busy Vocational and Professional area includes a broad range of curriculum programmes which include business, counselling, and accounts, working with children and adults and Access to Higher Education.

We have an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated Lead Tutor for our vocational and professional learning programmes (Part time).

As a skilled, experienced and passionate teacher, you will support the Curriculum Coordinator in the development, implementation and monitoring of this programme area.

This exciting role will be responsible for ensuring the service meets its commitment to Leicester residents to develop skills to get into work or progress in a work environment.

This post is for 18.5 hours a week, working pattern can be discussed at interview. You'll be based at Leicester Adult Education College, Belvoir Street, Leicester.

However, you'll be expected work in a variety of settings across the city and will be able to travel anywhere daily, whether this be by transport of own vehicle or public transport.

You'll be expected to maintain a 100-hour teaching commitment in an academic year.


What you'll be doing
Not one day will be the same in this varied role.

Your day-to-day tasks may include, but not be limited to, supporting tutors with queries regarding IT, registers, observations, keeping up with continual professional development and supporting the day-to-day tasks of the department.


Using your excellent teaching skills and knowledge, you'll advise, motivate and support a team of tutors to deliver a high quality and effective programme of learning.

Ensure strategies are put in place to improve learner retention, achievement and progression, focussing on an ethos of continuous improvement is adopted to work towards the service aspiration for becoming an outstanding learning provider.

With a modern and inspirational approach to teaching, learning and assessment and with a good understanding of ILT in the classroom and creative learning resources, you'll ensure a positive learning experience is in place for all learners.

This role is quite unique because you are exposed to all areas that fall under vocational and professional qualifications.

Reporting into the Curriculum Coordinator, you'll be part of a bigger team supporting adult learners into different pathways and supporting tutors reach that end goal.
