Patient Care This post has no direct patient care responsibilities; however, the post holder may come into contact with patients incidentally.

Communication & Relationship Skills Provide and receive information in regard to all Patient Safety aspects.

By the end of the apprenticeship programme, Postholder will be able to communicate more complex information to all levels of staff and external agencies.

Taking notes from meetings as appropriate. Attend meeting as requested by the Patient Safety Team.

Analytical & Judgemental Skills By the end of the apprenticeship programme, Postholder will be able to make straight forward judgements regarding patient safety incidents reports on DatixWeb and process those that have passed the quality standard and to challenge where further detail is required.

Maintain databases to assist the Patient Safety Team.

Knowledge, Training & Experience Basic knowledge of computer and keyboard use (Windows Office, DatixWeb etc.).

Knowledge of basic medical terminology, anatomical and physiological terms:
acquired through work-based training and experience.

Knowledge/experience of arranging meetings Participation in apprenticeship programme, attending training, reviews etc Financial Resources/Management Will be responsible for their own time management, ensuring that they work in an efficient and proactive manner.

Responsibility for Research & Development Complete Staff Surveys.

Information Resources/Information Systems Maintaining information systems accurately and within agreed timescales ensuring consistency of data and ensuring confidentiality. Ensure timely updates to the corporate risk register. Freedom to Act They will have supervised work at the beginning of this apprenticeship programme.

The aim is that by the end of programme, they will be able to use own initiative whilst being guided by standard operating procedures and policies.


The responsibilities of the post holder will be flexible; the role will develop and evolve as the team evolves, which may require further training or re-evaluation of duties.
