Activities & Representation Coordinator (Maternity cover contract)

Principle purpose of job:


  • Delivery of agile managed projects to increase student participation in engagement activities
  • Develop Student Leadership, Activism, Student Group Development and Academic Representation
  • Administration support in the delivery of projects

Salary
£23,174 per annum


Hours
Temporary Contract - 35 hours a week
This is a maternity cover contract - initially expected to be until early 2024

Location and times of work:

Main place of work City Centre and City South with the expectation to work and visit other campuses when needed.

Occasional working outside of standard hours.

1.
Delivery of agile managed projects to increase student participation in engagement activities
a. To work as part of project teams on a variety of engagement areas, ensuring projects deliver value to students

b. Working with the other Activities & Representation Coordinators to create and complete the tasks for each project yet taking individual responsibility for project tasks and ownership for agreed areas of project development

c. Encouraging collaboration with members in the wider staff team, e.g. The Point, Marketing Team, Advice

d. To work as part of a project team to develop and monitor budget for each project

e. Ensure evaluation is carried out for each project, agreeing on measures to effectively evaluate engagement, efficiency and performance

f. To form self-organising teams to complete each project and be accountable for the delivery of the project objectives

g. To use initiative to look for, research and deliver new streams of work

Project work will include (but is not limited to)

  • Group Leader & Student Representation training
  • Recruitment (Society members, Student Reps etc.)
  • Support delivery of Executive Officer training programme
  • Supporting and shaping Officer Campaigns
  • Welcome Fair
  • Award ceremonies
  • Employability activities
  • Volunteering projects
  • Development of new student interest groups

2. Develop Student Leadership, Activism, Student Group Development and Academic Representation
a. Responsible for the operational support and development of Society leaders and Student Representatives

b. To work with colleagues to support and develop the Executive Officers

c. To assist Societies and Student Representatives to formulate achievable plans to increase and diversify their membership/impact as well as ensure sustainability and growth

d. To support students to engage with campaigning and supported in lobbying activities on academic, and other issues, at the course, faculty and University level

e.

Support and guide student leaders and representatives in the effective design and development of policy, procedure and processes for their activities or groups, with a focus on diversity, inclusion and accessibility.

f. To provide guidance to Society leaders and Student Representatives on their activities as well as support in the evaluation of projects and outcomes

g. To work with the team to deliver a training framework and effective induction for Society Leaders and Student Representatives

h. To work with the team on student testing of ideas and projects created within the Activities & Representation Team and ensure the student experience is integral to all activities


3. Administration support in the delivery of projects
a. Deal with enquires that require escalation from The Point reception team, responding to stu
