MAIN OBJECTIVES

  • A selfmotivated project member who can contribute to a crossfunctional team and meet the demands and Supply Chain deliverables of a dynamic Product Development Project. Acts as the materials pointofcontact for the Product Development team and represents Engineering interests in interactions with the Operations & Supply Chain teamsResponsible to determine prototype material requirements from engineering related to new product development and sourcing for all firsttime first articles. To monitor cost drivers and / or price indicators and appraise management of all potential increases or related issues.

Duties also include but are not limited to supporting activities relative to supplier selection, management, and rationalisation, and making and executing decisions to ensure uninterrupted product / material flow for new product introduction.

Close liaison and active contribution with Planning, Sales and Manufacturing disciplines (team approach).

The job is also highly focussed in respect of environmental considerations associated with packaging, re-usable where possible, consolidated deliveries and COSHH sensitive, in particular where solid and liquid waste disposal is concerned.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Develop long term supply relationships with key vendors employing supply chain management techniques to ensure the timely and cost-effective supply of electronic and electro-mechanical components and support services.

Work closely with Engineering on requirements for new electronic and electro-mechanical components and assemblies. Contributing cost effective (already used) components and component sources of supply for the given requirement.
Forecast the NPI product's standard cost at introduction.

Analyse and evaluate quotations submitted in response to RFQ requests to ensure that quality, capability, and costs are satisfactory to meet NPI targets.

Manage and Maintain material master, info record, source list accuracy and other material related fields in G2.Monitor and report supplier scorecard's relative to delivery, NPI metrics performance.- Ensure that vendors of critical parts are fully aware of the Supplier Score Card process and the importance of maintaining category A performance levels.

Completion of daily MRP output with due consideration given to maximising delivery schedule.
Assertively seek and recommend cost savings possibilities based upon new sources, substitutions, improved systems or new items. Work with product development team by providing them samples, specifications and pricing for their approval.

Contribute to stock minimisation tasks as part of stock reduction teamAssist Supply Chain Team to ensure departmental objectives are achieved.

NCR database and supply chain score card reporting and analysis is reported in a timely manner.
Re-usable packaging for inbound and outbound shipments should be the first consideration in all cases. Where this is not a practical option ensure that all packing materials purchased are recyclable.
Keep system updated with accurate pricing and lead time data.

Responsibility for adhering to the Company's ISO 9001 Quality, ISO14001 Environmental and Health and Safety management systems and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE- Computer literate and good understanding of manufacturing systems (MRP, ERP, MPS)

Modern supply methods including Kanban proficientDiploma in purchasing and supply desirable but not essential-Strong negotiation skills.

Ability to collaborate & influence across departmental linesStrong understanding and commitment to environmental issues and skilled in supply chain greening.
